Saying Yes to the Dress

Well, I've done it! I found a dress! Apparently all it took was one more visit to each, which is great because I don't think I could have put up with the search much longer...  :)

I ended up purchasing the dress I found at Vera's House of Bridals. This ended up being a surprise actually since I'd not expected to find anything at Vera's, but after all the dresses - I did!

So, I'm officially a "Maggie Bride" which is the name given to girls who will be married in Maggie Sottero gowns. I came to the realization tonight that I'm actually an "Erin's Maggie" Bride though, because I'm making a few alterations to the basic design of the dress that I ordered. This will mean a lot more to folks who know that my dog growing up was officially named "Erin's Maggie Malone." Quite fitting and perfect that I'm now an "Erin's Maggie Bride," no?

Now, I have to wait about 5 to 6 months for my dress to actually come, and after that I have two fittings. Luckily, Vera's House of Bridals will store my dress for me and even press it prior to my wedding so I don't have to keep it myself. I can go "visit" my dress as often as I'd like, though - a perk I'm sure I'll take advantage of!

Dress Shopping... Part two

Guess what!! I found a dress I love at David's! .... Then I found a dress I love at Vera's. I have another appointment at each place tomorrow evening after work. Hopefully it's more clear to me tomorrow! I know I have time yet, but I feel like the sooner I scratch this off my list the easier things will be. Each tic mark gets us closer to 10.1.11!! :)

Are you ready for some Dress Shopping?!

Tomorrow I am finally going dress shopping! We have a full day with two appointments - one in the morning at David's Bridal and a second in the afternoon at Vera's House of Bridals. I'm lucky enough to have a great group of women going with me to help me through the process including my mom, my aunt, my future step-mother-in-law, and one of my bridesmaids - Krisi. My grandfather is even joining us for the appointment at David's :) In between the two appointments, we'll be meeting Andrew for lunch somewhere in town. I have a whole bunch of dresses I like at both places, and only an hour and a half at each one! Oh My! I'll let you know how it goes after tomorrow...

One Year To Go!

One year from today, Andrew and I will be married! So, that makes today our Negative One Year Anniversary :)

Shoes!

My mom and I went shopping today and.... I FOUND MY SHOES!!! 

Pretty fantastic color match for a pair of shoes purchased at JC Penny... :)

I could have danced all night, and still have begged for more :)

Andrew and I went for our introductory lesson at Fred Astaire Dance Studio  tonight. We learned how to do the Rumba, the Waltz, the Foxtrot and the Push-Pull... all in forty minutes! :)

Our instructor, Zeke, was actually Andrew's Dad's and stepmother's instructor before their wedding two years ago, so we know we're in good hands!

We've got some big (dancing) shoes to fill! 

I'm really looking forward to having these lessons with Andrew, since we're both complete novices at this - we can really learn and grow together! 

I do know this though... I need to find my wedding shoes so I can learn how to dance while wearing them!!

I love my bridesmaids!

I'm getting together with my lovely bridesmaids (Marloe, Kasia and Kristina) tomorrow evening, and I can't wait! I'm really looking forward to sharing this day with these wonderful girls. They've been my friends for as long as I can remember and I know they'll stand by me over then next year and three months as well as on my wedding day! <3 you all!

The ball is rolling!

Andrew and I decided to stick with tradition and we've booked the Blackhawk Country Club for our ceremony and reception to take place October 1, 2011. My grandfather has been a member of Blackhawk for over 40 years, and therefore it's obviously a special place for my family. Over all the years we've been together, it has become a special place for Andrew and me as well. Many of our birthdays, anniversaries, and other events have been hosted there - and we're sure that it will be perfect for yet another milestone in our lives! So, after checking another important decision off our list - we're one step closer to our big day and I couldn't be more excited!!

We're engaged!

We're finally on our way! Andrew asked me to marry him over the Memorial Day weekend, and I said "yes!" (of course :) ). We're thinking of tying the knot in the Fall of 2011, so we've got about a year and a few months to get ready.

So far, we've roughed out our plans, picked colors and started our guest list. We are hoping to keep the ceremony and reception very intimate, surrounded by our families and closest friends.

I hope to make this our main wedding website, and I'll keep it updated as we make other decisions.
